7hN3dweII&RoIIo <br /> On 29 September 1999, Treadwell &Rollo collected groundwater samples from existing • <br /> monitoring wells MW-12, MW-13,MW-20A, and MW-21A. Of the four monitoring wells and <br /> two grab groundwater samples analyzed, only one,MW-21 A,had significant petroleum <br /> contamination,with TPH as gasoline and TPH as diesel concentrations at 4.28 and 3.66 mg/1, <br /> respectively. The only halogenated volatile organic compound indicative of possible chlorinated <br /> solvent contamination detected during this investigation was 1,2-Dichloroethane, found at <br /> 6.49 ug/1 in MW-21A. Trichloroethene (TCE) and perchloroethene (PCE) detections cited in the <br /> 22 March 1999 AGE quarterly report were not reproduced during this work. TCA has been <br /> detected in soil and groundwater from the area of the former TCA tank(AGE 1999a). There are <br /> currently 15 groundwater monitoring wells being sampled as part of an ongoing groundwater <br /> monitoring program conducted under the oversight of the SJCED. <br /> 1.2.2.2 Area 16 <br /> Description • <br /> This site is located west of Area 15 and is referred to as the 424 North Van Buren Street site and <br /> the Chase Chevrolet site. Currently the site is used for automobile salvage or repair, and as an <br /> automobile towing yard. Areas between buildings are paved with asphalt or covered with <br /> concrete slabs (Figure 6). <br /> Site History <br /> This site was originally developed in the early 1900s and re-developed sometime after the mid- <br /> 1960s for use by an auto dealership. A 1,000 gallon UST which reportedly stored gasoline and <br /> diesel was removed in 1986 and petroleum hydrocarbon contamination was documented during <br /> the removal (AGE, 1996). <br /> 12 • <br /> 25970309.DGD 24 August 2000 <br />
