Soil Boring and Monitoring 805 Well Installation Report Preparation TOTAL PRE-APPROVED $11,232 • The amount pre-approved will allow you to choose from Smith Environmental,Ramage Environmental, Clearwater Group or Geological Technics. The proposals submitted by these consultants contained a different scope of work,however verbal approval of the above pre- approved scope of work was obtained from Mary Meays of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD). The costs presented by each of these consultants are within an acceptable range to be considered equal as the low bid for completing the scope of work required and approved by the PHS/EHD. • The actual costs and scope of work performed must be consistent with the pre-approval for it to remain valid. • The work products must be acceptable to the County and the Regional Water Quality Control Board. _ • If a different scope of work becomes necessary,then you must request pre-approval of costs for the new scope of work. • Although I have referred to the Smith Environmental proposal in my pre-approval above,please be aware that you will be entering into a private contract:the State of California cannot compel you to sign any specific contract. This letter pre-approves the costs as presented in the proposal dated August 22, 1997 by Smith Environmental for conducting the work requested by the County for implementing the Soil and Groundwater Investigation. I also want to remind you that the Fund's regulations require that you obtain at least three bids,or a bid waiver from Fund staff, from qualified firms for all necessary corrective action work.
