  r
j' Smith Technolopry SITE SAFETY PLAN
k
FACILITY BACKGROUND
In April 1986, one 350-gallon unleaded gasoline underground storage tank (UST) and all
associated piping and dispensing equipment were remo`ed and disposed of. Laboratory
analysis of soil samples collected from beneath the former UST location indicated the
presence of detectable concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons. After the tank was
i
removed, the area of the former tank was backfilled.
i
WORK PLAN
Task One:
Supervise the installation of six soil borings to depths of approximately 30 feet. Two
soil samples and one grab groundwater sample will be collected from each boring
from areas which exhibit physical indications of Icontamination. Samples will be
analyzed for BTEX and MTBE (EPA Method 8020), TPHg (EPA Method 8015
Modified), oxygenate fuel additives (EPA Method 8260), and total lead.
Task Two: 4
Supervise the installation of three soil borings toy depths of approximately 30 feet F
and their completion as 2-inch diameter groundw ater monitoring wells. Two soil
samples will be collected from each boring from areas which exhibit physical
indications of contamination. The wells will be developed and groundwater samples
will be collected from each well. Samples will be analyzed for BTEX, oxygenate fuel
additives (EPA Method 8260), TPHg (EPA Method 8015 Modified), and total lead.
 I
i
i
PAGE 4
