Phase 11 Environmental Site h.sessment Tracy, California
Home Depot, U.S.A. Inc.
detectable concentrations of the compounds analyzed. Shallow composite soil sample CP-2 was
found to contain 270 ug/kg of the chlorinated herbicide Dalapon (2,2-Dichloropropionic acid),
which is just above the laboratory detection limit of 250 ug/kg.
There are no concentration-based standards for regulation of soil containing Dalapon as a
hazardous waste. The Preliminary Remedial Goal (PRG) established by USEPA Region IX for
Dalapon in residential soil is 1,600 mg/kg, which exceeds the concentration detected in the
sample by nearly four orders of magnitude. Therefore, the Dalapon detected in the one surficial
composite soil sample is not considered to be of concern.
Based on the results of the analyses, no indications of any significant impacts to soils or
groundwater were found in the areas explored at the subject property.
S:\whc\wp\sharedI\projects\homedepo\tracyph2.doc 3-4 July 1999
