Water Sample
No water sample was collected as part of this investigation.
Live Oak reviewed publicly available information for CSA35 Well #1. According to CA
Drinking Water Watch (sdwis.waterboards.ca.gov), this well was tested for nitrate in
February of 2018 and 2019; nitrate was detected at 1 and 1.2 mg/L-N, respectively.
DBCP was detected in February of 2016 (the most recent test result available) at 0.01
ug/L. These test results are included in Appendix 5. The Maximum Contaminant Level
(MCL) set by the US EPA for nitrate is 10 mg/L-N; the MCL for DBCP is 0.2 µg/L.
Soil Profile and Geologic Information
The Site is depicted on the Preliminary geologic map of the Midway quadrangle,
Alameda and San Joaquin counties, California (Dibblee, 1980). The Site is depicted
within a map unit of Holocene alluvium (Plate 9).
The surface and near surface soils located at the Site are reported by the USDA Web
Soil Survey to be composed of Capay clay (Plate 10) (USDA, 2019). The table below
presents some selected properties of this soil:
Table 1. See description of the map unit for
composition and behavior characteristics of the map unit.
Soil Borings
On December 3, 2019, Live Oak excavated a shallow soil boring near the proposed
septic disposal area of the Site for the purpose of conducting a percolation test. The
boring was four inches in diameter, 3.42 feet deep, and was excavated by hand auger
(Table 2).
The location of the boring is indicated on Plate 11.
The soil in the boring was similar to that described by the Soil Survey. Clay was
encountered to approximately two feet below ground surface, followed by clay with sand
to the full depth of the hole. The soil log is presented on Plate 12.
LOGE 20-01 Page 4
