Box 2089 <br /> Corps of Engineers Stockton, California 95201 <br /> 1325 J Street <br /> Sacramento, California 95814-2922 <br /> NOTICE OF APPLICABILITY OF GENERAL ORDER WASTE DISCHARGE <br /> REQUIREMENTS FOR UNITED STATES ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS AND <br /> THE PORT OF STOCKTON, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY (ORDER NO. 94-18002) <br /> The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) and the Port of Stockton (Port) submitted a Report of <br /> Waste Discharge (ROWD) and a Dredge Material Disposal (DMD) Site Operations Plan, dated 31 <br /> August 1995. Supplemental information and analyses to the ROWD were also submitted on 5 and <br /> 7 September 1995. The ROWD and the DMD Site Operations Plan are for a proposed maintenance <br /> dredging project along the Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel at the channel reaches adjacent <br /> Sherman and Bradford Islands. Dredged sediments will be placed at three separate DMD sites. <br /> Two of the sites are on Sherman Island and one is on Bradford Island. Based on the information <br /> in these submittals, it is our determination that the proposed channel maintenance dredging <br /> activities meet the applicability requirements of General Order No. 94-180. All the requirements <br /> contained in the General Order and the dredge material disposal site Operations Plan you have <br /> submitted will be applicable to your project. You are hereby assigned General Order No. 94- <br /> 18002 for the proposed maintenance dredging activities in the Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel. <br /> The Monitoring and Reporting Program No. 94-180 prescribe the minimum monitoring <br /> requirements that must be performed during the dredging and dredge material disposal site <br /> activities to demonstrate compliance with the General Order. <br /> PROJECT LOCATION <br /> The deep water ship channel maintenance dredging activities will be performed between the <br /> channel reaches at river miles 8.63 to 11.12 and between river miles 15.18 and 16.19 in the San <br /> Joaquin River, as shown in Attachment 1, which is attached and part of this Notice by reference. <br /> Two of the DMD sites are on Sherman and one is on Bradford Island and are shown in <br /> Attachment 1. <br /> PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> The Sacramento District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE), will perform maintenance <br /> dredging along the Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel for the Port of Stockton. The maintenance <br /> dredging project will remove up to 173,000 cubic yards of sediment that has settled into parts of <br /> the shipping channel along the San Joaquin River. To demonstrate the anticipated dredge material <br /> is 'inert waste'; as defined in Title 23,Chapter 15, Section 2524 of the California Code of <br />
