Overhead and underground utilities adjacent to the site. <br /> 5. Personal Protective Equipment to be used: <br /> a. During normal work: as per Section B-4 <br /> b. During special operations (steam cleaning, equipment operation, etc.): as per <br /> Section B-4. <br /> c. During emergency response actions: as per Section B-4 <br /> 6. Work Practices to minimize risk: <br /> a. Be aware of heat stress symptoms: excessive fatigue, confusion, flushed or pale <br /> complexion, pulse racing, cramps, lack of perspiration. Drink plenty of fluid, and <br /> take frequent breaks in shade. <br /> b. Do not move equipment, or engage drilling tools without ensuring all clear. <br /> Ensure emergency shut off switches are working and all personnel familiar with the <br /> locations of the switches. <br /> c. Immediately alert the supervisor or the geologist of any unusual odor detected <br /> during operations. All such odors shall be evaluated with PID to determine <br /> concentrations. Avoid dermal contact with soil/water which may contain petroleum <br /> product and/or hazardous materials. <br /> d. Immediately notify all personnel of any un-safe condition, or equipment <br /> malfunction. <br /> e. Be aware of the surroundings and operations. Be watchful for pedestrian and <br /> vehicle traffic. <br /> f. Site specific hazards and/or safety practices to be observed: Avoid dust clouds <br /> and avoid direct contact with soil. <br /> 7. Engineering Controls on site: <br /> a. Traffic cones and warning tapes: set up to isolate work areas from public. <br /> b. Emergency warning devices and shut-off switches: insure driller, helper, and <br /> geologist are aware of the locations and operation of the emergency shut-off <br /> switches. <br /> c. Site specific controls and/or warning devices: to be determined. <br /> 8. Medical surveillance requirements: not applicable to this project. <br /> 9. Decontamination Procedures: <br />
