amec-
parameters
after injection. Samples will be collected from the MW-5 well cluster 1 week
following the injection and measured for field parameters. If the field parameters indicate a
significant change from conditions observed prior to injection, the samples will be submitted
for laboratory analysis. Sampling will then be conducted on a monthly basis for 3 months
following the injection. The monthly samples will be measured for field parameters and
submitted for laboratory analysis. Sampling will then continue on a semiannual basis as a
part of semiannual groundwater monitoring events for 2 years.
Before sampling, each monitoring well will be purged using a portable Grundfos stainless-steel
electric submersible pump. Purging with the Grundfos pump will consist of removing at least
four casing volumes of water or until the field parameters of the purge water(temperature, pH,
and FC) have stabilized and the water is relatively clear and free of sediment. Other
measured field parameters of the purge water will include oxidation-reduction potential,
dissolved oxygen, and a qualitative assessment of turbidity.
Following purging and completion of the field measurements, groundwater samples will be
collected in laboratory-prepared containers, labeled, and placed in an ice-cooled chest for
delivery to the laboratory using chain-of-custody procedures. rhe Grundfos pump and
associated tubing will be decontaminated before collecting samples from each monitoring
well by washing with a Liquinox solution, rinsing with clean water, and rinsing again with
deionized water. Water generated from groundwater sampling activities will be placed in
55-gallon drums for characterization and subsequent disposal.
Groundwater samples from the wells will be submitted to a California-certified analytical
laboratory for the following analyses_
Constituent Method'
Total Dissolved Solids EPA 160.1
Dissolved Iron and Manganese EPA 601013
Sulfate EPA 300
Nitrate as nitrogen) EPA 300
Total Organic Carbon SM 5310B
Total Alkalinity SM 2320B
Chlorinated Volatile Organic Compounds EPA 8260B
Metabolic Acids(volatile fatty acids) Standard Oeerating Procedure
1.
