• Semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) including
polycyclic/polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs/PNAs)
• Fumigants ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dibromo-3-chloro propane
(DBCP)
• Ammonia
• Total phosphorus
Modified Title 22 §64433 general minerals suite: - Sulfate
- Nitrate Chloride- Total dissolved solids (TDS)
Water samples for VOC (including fumigant) analysis will be collected with the low-
flow pump at a rate of 100 ml/min or less, and carefully transferred to VOAs (with the
appropriate preservative), ensuring the absence of headspace. All samples will be
labeled, sealed and stored on ice (4C) according to laboratory requirements. Samples
for diesel-range and heavier hydrocarbons, semi-volatile and non-volatile constituents
may be collected at flow rates of 1 liter/min, and transferred into their appropriate
containers (with preservatives as required), labeled and stored on ice (4C) for delivery
to the laboratory.
Non-disposable sampling equipment will be decontaminated between wells by washing
with a non-phosphate detergent, rinsed twice with tap water and final-rinsed with
deionized or distilled water. One rinsate blank will be collected and analyzed per
sampling event. One duplicate groundwater sample will be collected and analyzed for
every ten submitted for the same analysis. One trip blank (per sampling event),
prepared by the laboratory, will accompany the groundwater samples back to the
laboratory. Standard chain-of-custody protocols will be employed for sample
identification and transfer of possession. Field personnel will be mindful of short
holding times, and ensure samples are delivered to the laboratory in sufficient time for
extraction and analysis.
Analyses for the constituents listed above will be as follows:
• VOCs: EPA Method 8260B
• TPH-cc: EPA Method 8015B
• As and Hg: EPA Method 6010B
• Cr VI: EPA Method 218.6
• SVOCs(incl. PAHs/PNAs): EPA Method 8270C
• Fumigants (EDB, DBCP): EPA Method 504.1
• Ammonia: Standard Method(SM)4500 NH3 B/C(EPA 350.2)
• Total phosphorus(P): SM 4500 P B/E(EPA 365.3)
• Sulfate (SO4),Nitrate(NO3) and Chloride(Cl): EPA Method 300.0
• Total Dissolved Solids(TDS): SM 2540C(EPA 160.1)
Purge water will be stored in labeled drums until laboratory results have been received,
at which time the groundwater and drums will be disposed in conformance with
appropriate regulations.
