PROOFTEST
DATA: TESTED 4/11/13
TIME PRESSURE, psi TEMP., OF TEMP., °K
21:19 5.00 74.0 296.3
21:37 5.00 72.0 295.2
21:56 4.90 71.0 294.7
22:05 4.95 70.0 294.1
22:20 4.98 70.5 294.4
OBSERVATION: 1). NO OUTSIDE LEAKS OR RUPTURES IN TANK OR COLLECTION PIPING.
2). CONTAINMENT CAVITY REMAINED DRY .
CONFIRMATION: GAY-LUSSAC'S LAW, P2=P,(T2/T,) FOR FIXED VOLUME AND MASS
P2=5.00(294.1/296.3)=4.96psi O.K.
CONCLUSIONS: 1). PRESSURE VARIANCE WAS CAUSED BY THE TEMPERATURE CHANGES.
2).THE TANK IS PROVED TO WITHSTAND THE INTENDED PRESSURES
WITH A FACTOR OF SAFETY OF 2.
3).THE CURRENT CONDITIONS OF THE WASTE OIL TANK IS IN
COMPLIANCE WITH C.C.R. 66265.192(k)
EVALUATIONS
WASTE OIL TANK: The waste oil tank itself is intact and compatible with waste oil. The waste oil
tank was proofed to twice the intended static hydraulic pressures and is in compliance with C.C.R.
66265.192(k).
LEAK DETECTION EQUIPMENT: The leak detection equipment consists of a visual observation
bung and a dipstick rod. The dipstick and bung cap are present and is in compliance with C.C.R.
66265.192(k).
CORROSION PROTECTION EQUIPMENT: The corrosion protection is furnished by an intact
exterior coat of paint, closed secondary containment cavity and is indoors not exposed to the weather.
The corrosion protection system is in compliance with C.C.R. 66265.192(k).
SPILL PREVENTION: Spill prevention is furnished by a diaphragm collection pump with cam lock
connections to the waste oil trolley pans attached to the vehicle lifts. The collection system eliminates
the potential of spilling an oil pan while it sits on the floor or while carrying it to the waste oil tank. The
collection piping is in plain sight making it observable for leaks. The collection piping was pressurized
with the tank proof test and was proofed to twice the intended static hydraulic pressures and is in
compliance with C.C.R. 66265.192(k).
OVERFLOW PROTECTION: An accurate depth indicator is utilized to ensure there is sufficient
volume remaining in the waste oil tank prior to emptying the waste oil trolley pans. The trolley pans are
of sufficient size to hold waste oil from multiple vehicles. The collection system requires the hoses and
air valves to be manually operated, eliminating the risk of unattended automatic equipment overfill.
The waste oil is collected every two weeks on a contracted schedule, ensuring there is always sufficient
capacity in the waste oil tank. The methodology used is in compliance with C.C.R. 66265.192(k).
CERTIFICATION
I certify under penalty of law that this document and all attachments were prepared under my direction
or supervision in accordance with a system designed to assure that qualified personnel properly gather
and evaluate the information submitted.
