A 55 gallon open drum located outdoors in the dumpster by the lube shop held oily water. It was <br />supposed to be empty but due to the rainy weather it begin to store rain water. All hazardous waste <br />containers shall be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. <br />All hazardous waste containers shall be marked with the following information: <br />1. the words "Hazardous Waste", 2. name and address of generator, 3. hazardous properties <br />4. physical state, 5. composition (contents), 6. accumulation start date <br />Immediately label these containers and ensure that all hazardous waste containers are marked with all <br />the required information. Immediately close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers <br />are closed when not adding or removing waste. <br />Corrected onsite. Maintenance employee Jaime Martinez emptied the oily rain water into a closed <br />properly labeled hazardous waste drum. <br />32. Failed to comply with new hazardous waste tank assessment requirements. The 500 gallon waste oil <br />tank lacks a hazardous waste tank assessment. Owners/ operators of new tank systems or components <br />shall ensure that the foundation, structural support, seams, connections are adequately designed and <br />that the tank system has sufficient structural strength, compatibility with waste oil that is transferred, <br />stored, or treated and corrosion protection so that it will not collapse, rupture or fail. Correct by obtaining <br />a written assessment reviewed and certified by an independent, qualified, California -certified <br />professional engineer attesting that the system has sufficient structural integrity.
