An exclusion zone will be
established approximately 20 feet around drilling areas. No unauthorized person shall be allowed
within this exclusion area.
4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION
The following substance(s) or hazards are suspected at the following concentrations:
SUBSTANCES INVOLVED: CONCENTRATIONS:
Fuel Hydrocarbons Unknown
Hydraulic Oil Unknown
Chlorinated Hydrocarbons Unknown
The primary hazards of each are identified as follows:
1. Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic
petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water.
Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye,
nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system.
Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness,
dizziness, and loss of coordination. Certain components of gasoline(BTE&X etc.)are known
or suspected carcinogens.
2. Hydraulic Oil - Similar to Hydrocarbon fuels.
3. Chlorinated Hydrocarbons-Generally colorless oily liquids with a chloroform-like odor. The
various compounds are volatile and have low to moderate solubility. The compounds depress
the central nervous system, cause skin, nose and eye irritation, may cause tremors. Organ
damage potential; target organs include skin, eyes, respiratory system, heart, liver, and
kidneys.
The additional potential hazards include: Slip-trip-fall hazards, noise, heave equipment(i.e., mobile
drill rig), vibration hazards, traffic hazards. etc.
Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc.
