Sample Collection
After the minimum waiting period of seven (7) days after system inoculation, a return visit is made to the
site. If horizontal conduit has been installed, the conduit location is verified by the technician using
underground locating equipment. Upon confirmation, smaller tubing is fed into the pre-laid conduit and
vapor samples are collected a various locations around the looping series of conduit. Additional vapor
samples may be collected from sumps containing tank components, including interstitial spaces of double
walled components. Air blanks are collected to confirm quality of subsurface sample collection.
If a vertical probe installation was utilized, vapor samples will be collected from each probe location.
Additional vapor samples may be collected from sumps containing tank components, including interstitial
spaces of double walled components. Air blanks are collected to confirm quality of subsurface sample
collection.
Sample Analysis
For quality control, all samples are analyzed by Praxair Services, Inc. using a laboratory grade gas
chromatograph (GC). The GC is calibrated using an external gas standard. Samples are analyzed by direct
injection into the GC. The results are evaluated by comparison to the analytical standard. Whenever tracer is
detected in the subsurface samples, blanks are run to validate the tracer detection. Analytical services for
new construction facilities can be provided on-site using Praxair Services' mobile laboratory or remote via
Praxair Services'Tucson,Arizona laboratory.
Report
The findings of the Tracer Tight® test will be summarized in a written report by Praxair Services, Inc. and
sent to the client after the completion of the field-work activities.
C Copyright 2003 Praxair Services,Inc.
