From 35 feet to 40 feet bsg, weakly cemented, very fine grained, gray-green, moist micaceous silty sand was encountered. From 45 feet to 60 feet bsg, orange-gray, green-gray, and red-brown micaceous silty sand was encountered. This material was moist,with grain size coarsening with depth from very fine-grained to medium-grained. At 65 feet bsg, orange-gray, clayey sand with grain sizes ranging from medium to coarse was encountered. To date,the lateral and vertical extents of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and ground water have not been defined. The EHD has issued several letters of responsibility to past owners of the property; however,no investigation has been completed since the 1985 well installation. 3.0. SCOPE OF WORK The scope of the work includes the advancement of three pilot soil borings for the collection of soil samples and installation of ground water monitoring wells. The scope of work will include the following tasks: • Permitting and pre-field work activities; • Pilot drilling and soil sample collection; • Monitoring well installation and development; • Laboratory analysis of soil samples; • Ground water sampling and analysis; and • Preparation of a report of findings. 3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the SJCEHD.In addition,a site health and safety plan will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 1985).
