6.1 Conceptual Site Model
Potential and confirmed contamination at the Site is located in the soil—either as
chemical particulates (CAM 17 metals, OCP's,Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH)
adhered to the soil or potentially as vapors (methane and hydrogen sulfide) being emitted
through the soil. The primary pathway for both of these sources is through the inhalation
of airborne dust particles or soil vapors. A less common possibility exists for these
chemicals to be absorbed into the body through dermal contact or through ingestion of
the soil. The Site Conceptual Model, located in Appendix D,further delineates the
potential human exposure to contaminates at the Site.
6.2 Proposed Sampling and Analytical Testing Plan
The sections below,Table 2 and Figure 3, Proposed PEA Sampling Plan in Appendix A,
further delineate the sample locations, sample analysis, depth and numbers of samples
proposed in this Workplan.
6.2.1 Site Surface Soil Samples
Surface soil samples at the Site will be collected from a variety of locations and analyzed
for several different constituents. Table 2 below outlines the proposed locations, analyses
and number of samples.
Preliminary Environmental Assessment Workplan
Proposed Podesta Ranch Elementary School
December 4,2006
