k`■ KLEINFELDER
File No. 20-2245-32.E01
November 18, 1997
Mr. Randy Bling
DSS Engineering, Inc.
P.O. Box 6099
Stockton, California 95206
Subject: Soil Excavation Observation, Sampling, and Analyses
Aboveground Diesel Storage Tank Location
Larkspur Estates (Parcel #6)
Tracy, California
Dear Mr. Bling,
In accordance with your request and authorization, Kleinfelder has conducted soil excavation
observation, sampling and analyses at the above-referenced site. The work was performed in
accordance with our proposal 20-YP7-208, dated November 6, 1997.
1.0 SITE SETTING AND USE
The proposed Larkspur Estates Property is located at 2025 MacArthur Drive in Tracy, California.
The site is located in an agricultural, residential and commercial area of Tracy. A farmhouse and
associated structures had recently been removed [including the above ground storage tank
(AGST)] prior to Kleinfelder's field activities. Weeds and tall grasses over the remaining site
were being stripped during soil excavation observation.
' 2.0 BACKGROUND
' Kleinfelder was informed by DSS that an above-ground diesel storage tank (AGST) was at the
above-referenced address. A Phase I Environmental Site Assessment was conducted in early
September 1997, by Michael E. Gingrass, in which several areas of"stained and odorous" soil
were indicated in the vicinity of the above-ground storage tank. A composite soil sample was
collected September 9, 1997 by Mr. Gingrass, from three distinct areas surrounding the tank to a
depth of two to three feet below surface grade. Results of the analysis indicated diesel fuel soil
contamination of 57,000 mg/kg (ppm). However, the sampling conducted did not define the
20-2245-32.E01/2017R720 Page I of 5
© 1997, Kleinfelder,Inc. November 18, 1997
