CASE NARRATIVE
STL SACRAMENTO PROJECT NUMBER G3K210162
SOLID,8290,Dioxins/Furans
Sample(s): 1
There was strong matrix interference in this sample, which resulted in the loss of the 13C-
OCDD internal standard, as well as yielded poor recoveries for the other internal standards.
Quantitation by isotope dilution generally precludes any adverse effect on data quality due to
low internal standard recoveries if signal-to-noise is greater than 10:1, which is achieved for
all internal standards in the sample.
This sample is reported from a lOg re-extraction in which extra cleanups were done to
minimize matrix inteferences. A 1g re-extraction was also initiated but showed the same
preparation matrix interferences. The 1OX re-extraction was analyzed at 5 X dilution and it
was determined that although the 13C-OCDD internal standard has low recovery the signal to
noise is acceptable. The 1 g extraction would have the same matrix issues and further
processing of the 1 g extraction was stopped. Thus, the 10 g re-extracted sample at a 5 X
dilution is the reported data for this sample.
There were no other anomalies associated with this project.
G3K210162 STL Sacramento(9 16)373-5600 1 of 14
