Geomatrix will collect the groundwater sample from the pump tubing into laboratory provided bottles. If the well does have a working pump, the sample will be collected at the port nearest to the well. The water sample will be analyzed for TPHg, TPHd, BTEX, PAHs, TDS, general minerals, electrical conductivity, ammonia as nitrogen, nitrate as nitrogen, and total nitrogen. Quality Assurance/Quality Control and Waste Management Soil and water samples will be labeled and stored in an ice-cooled chest until transfer to a California-certified laboratory under Geomatrix chain-of-custody procedures. Several quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) samples will be submitted to the laboratory in accordance with the Geomatrix QAPP (August, 2001): • One equipment blank per each type of sampling device for groundwater per day • One travel blank per groundwater sample shipment • One field duplicate for groundwater per sampling event • One matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate sample per analytical batch of soil and groundwater (minimum 1 per 20 samples) Investigation derived waste (IDW) will be placed in sealed containers, labeled, and temporarily stored at the site pending disposal by Chevron and UPRR. Geomatrix will collect one sample per matrix (soil and water)to characterize the IDW for disposal. Additional Well Survey Geomatrix's October 3, 2006 Soil and Groundwater Investigation Report included a well search in the vicinity of Township 2 South, Range 5 East, Section 33. In November 2006, Geomatrix requested the Department of Water Resources (DWR) to search their files for several additional sections surrounding the site. Report Geomatrix will prepare a report detailing field activities, analytical results and our conclu- sions based on the results. The report will include figures and cross sections depicting the lateral and vertical extent of affected soil and a comparison of PAH data to applicable RBSLs, such as the EPA Region IX preliminary remediation goals (PRGs). The report will also summarize the results from the additional well survey.
