State of California Department of Health Services
lUlemorandum
o
AUG 211984
To File Date August 16, 1984
SAN JOAQUIN LOCAL Subject: Gordon Research Company
HEALTH DISTRICT San Joaquin County
From Brad Parsons, Unit Chief -
Sam Zarek, Waste Management Engineer
I . Facility:
Gordon Research Company
1085 South Union Road
Manteca; CA 95336
San Joaquin County
II . Purpose:
To evaluate marketable materials.
III . Facility and State Representatives:
Larry Gordon, Owner
Brad Parsons , Waste Management Specialist, DOHS, TSCD
Sam Zarek, Waste Management Engineer, DOHS, TSCD
IU. Observations and Conclusion:
Per Mr. Gordon's request, a Court hearing was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on August 8,
1984, at Department 9 of the Stockton Superior Court. The purpose of this hearing
was to modify a Court Order (Case Plumber 176307) thereby allowing Mr. Gordon to
sell the chemicals listed in his letter to Mr. Stephen Taylor. (Mr. Taylor is a
Deputy District Attorney for the Stockton Superior Court.) This list was reviewed
by the DOHS and found to contain insufficient information to make a proper
determination about the chemicals in question. Therefore, on August 1 , 1984,
a site inspection was conducted to evaluate Mr. Gordon 's request. Initially, a
visual inspection of the containers holding the listed materials was conducted.
Based on the information provided by Mr. Gordon, it was requested that all the
marketable items meet the following conditions :
A. All open or sealed containers with labels should be cleaned and checked
for content by an on-site physical or chemical test to verify that
these containers hold a marketable material . Furthermore, the contain-
ers holding these materials must be in a good condition to allow for
safe transportation and meet the labeling requirements for retail sale
items. Also, these identified materials must be sold for their
orginally intended use only.
