Leprino has operated a groundwater extraction and
treatment system since 1996. The groundwater extraction well EW-1 was replace by EW-2 in
2002, which created an enhanced capture zone. In December 2005, Leprino installed a
second extraction well to further enhance the capture zone and serve as a back-up should
EW-2 need maintenance. Leprino also installed product recovery pumps in two existing
monitoring wells and two new wells. Staff of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board (Regional Water Board) revised the MRP because the capture zone and product
recovery enhancements made the MRP out of date.
The revised MRP removes the requirement to monitor groundwater at the product recovery
points, three wells (MW-2, MW-9 and MW-10) shall be only be monitored for depth to
groundwater to verify the cone of depression, and wells MW-7, MW-8, MW-16, RW-3, RW-4A
and RW-5A are eliminated from monitoring because these points are either redundant with
other monitoring wells or because previous monitoring shows groundwater conditions at these
wells are stable. All other wells shall be monitored on a semi-annual basis.
Enclosed is the draft MRP for your review and comment. Please review the attached draft
revised MRP and provide any comments to me by 20 April 2007.
