MacArthur
Tracy, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health 4Division
(PHS/EHD) has reviewed the "Quarterly Report" dated September 22, 1995, prepared
by American Geological Services, Inc. for the above referenced site.
Groundwater sample results from MW6 are low and PHS/EHD considers it to be on the
edge of the groundwater contaminant plume in this direction. In correspondence
on October 2, 1995, PHS/EHD approved of the locations of the additional proposed
two shallow and one deep monitoring wells. .
According to the Corrective Action Requirements, California Code of Regulations
Title 23, Division 3, Chapter 16, Article 11, a feasibility study that evaluates
at least two alternatives for remediating the contamination at the site must be
included in the Corrective Action Plan. The alternatives must be evaluated for
cost-effectiveness and the most cost-effective alternative should be implemented.
In order to evaluate the alternatives of vapor extraction and air sparging that
have been effective in other sites in San Joaquin County, test wells must`, be
installed. PHS/EHD recommends that these type of wells be installed at the same
time that the proposed additional monitoring wells are installed to save
additional mobilization costs.
To include installation of these wells in the next phase of work, please submit
an addendum to the September 8, 1995, work plan. .
If you have any questions contact.
