(AGS) for the above
referenced site.
The work plan proposes the installation of up to ten soil borings
downgradient of MW-6 with collection of ground water samples to
determine the optimum location for monitoring wells in this area.
PHS/EHD staff conducted a site inspection on September 22 , 1995,
when AGS staff were sampling the existing monitoring wells and
discussed this portion of the work plan with them.
There is approximately 100 feet between MW-1 and MW-6 . MW-1 has
high levels of groundwater contamination and MW-6 has low levels of
groundwater contamination. In fact, the August 26, 1994,
groundwater sample results from MW-6 were non detect . If the
groundwater sample results from MW-6 for September 22, 1995,
sampling are low, this monitoring point may be considered to be on
the edge of the groundwater contaminant plume in this direction.
Therefore, additional wells in this direction would not be
necessary.
PHS/EHD concurs with the proposed locations of the other 2 shallow
monitoring wells and the deep monitoring well . The work plan
states that the deep monitoring well annular space will be filled
with granular bentonite or bentonite chips from the sand pack to
the standing water level . Pursuant to the San Joaquin County Well
Standards all monitoring wells shall be grouted continuously with
a bentonite slurry, a neat cement slurry, or a bentonite/cement
slurry, from the transition seal (1-5 foot of bentonite or other
approved material) to ground surface.
A permit application and $89 permit fee should be submitted to
PHS/EHD. Once the permit has been issued, the work can be
scheduled. Please notify PHS/EHD staff 48 hours prior to starting
work at the site .
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
