It was required that the oldest production well (South Well) on site be,,
demonstrated to not be a conduit for contamination to reach the lower aquifer.
In March 2004, a new production well was installed per current well standards and the monitoring
wells were sampled. In May 2004 the"South Well"was destroyed by explosion and filling with
cement grout. Analytical results from the March 2004 monitoring well samples show a significant
i reduction of contaminants in the groundwater.
Enclosed is an updated "Case Closure Summary" and chronology for this site. According to our.
Local Oversight Program contract with the State Water Resources Control Board the"Case
Closure Summary" is to be forwarded to you. If our agency has not received written
correspondence from you, detailing problems with closure of this site, within 30 days of your
receipt of this letter, our agency will request destruction of the monitoring wells. Environmental
Health Department will mail the responsible party a"Case Closure Letter' ("No Further Action
Letter")when all our requirements have been met.
If you have any questions, please contact Margaret Lagorio at (209)468-3449."
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Department
Margaret L gorio, Supervis g REHS
LOP Unit
Enclosure ,
cc: CVRWQCB—Jim Barton
Responsible Party(ies):
cc: Tracy Cold Storage
s
l
i
