lie 16 January 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0450
' Page 6 of 8
' The laboratory report(MCI Laboratory I.D.No.0212209-01 to 06)),Quality Assurance and Quality
Control Data(QA/QC)and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix C. The results of the
analyses are summarized in Tables 3 and 4.
3.4. SOIL-VAPOR EXTRACTION
tThe SVE/IAS system utilizing the vacuum blower operated at consistent rates during the observation
period. The duration of operation was recorded with an hour meter and recorded on field logs; the
' system only operated a total of 3,675 hours over the reporting time, due to discharge limits and
limited hours of operation to conform with the City Of Lodi Municipal Code regarding excessive
noise.
' Extraction flow rates were measured and calculated to range from 55 to 60 cubic feet per minute
g
(cfm).An induced vacuum of approximately 12 inches of water was typically measured in the piping
' between the blower and extraction wells.
Utilizing a PID,hydrocarbon concentrations were measured in parts per million volume(ppmv) at
' regular intervals at the SVE inlet, however a general concentration trend was not established from
the PID field measurements. Operational field measurements of the SVE unit are summarized in
Table 5.
Hydrocarbon concentrations (TPH-g) detected in influent soil-vapor samples were as high as
' 380 µg11; the last sample was a seasonal low of 67 gg/l. The results of the laboratory analysis are
summarized in Table 5; the laboratory reports (MAI Sample Numbers: 0207241-1, 0207448-01,
0208325-01,0209450-01,0210507-01,0211394-01 and 0212209-07)Quality Assurance and Quality
' Control (QA/QC) reports and chain-of-custody forms are included in Appendix D.
t3.5. MASS OF RECOVERED HYDROCARBONS
The hydrocarbon mass (TPH-g) removed during the operating period was calculated using the
' following equation: M= C•Q•t
where: M ti cumulative mass recovered (kg)
C= goii-vapor concentration (kg/m3)
Q= extraction flow rate (m3/hr)
' t= operational period, in hours
. The operational period was divided into five, approximately monthly intervals. The mass of
' hydrocarbons removed was based on analysis of soil-vapor. samples.
