F
12 September 1997
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0324
4.4. METHANE AND ORGANIC VAPOR SURVEY
The range of measurable vapor concentrations registered by the Micro FID was from zero to 1,000
parts per million vapors. However, no detectable vapors were noted during the soil vapor screening.
Additionally no filed observations indicated the presence organic vapors.
5.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this investigation:
• Ground water at the site was encountered at a depth of approximately 13 feet bsg.
• No hydrocarbon-impacted soil was encountered at the soil boring locations on the northern
boundary of the site, in relation to the Siena Lumber site.
• No detectable concentration of dissolved hydrocarbons were present in the ground water
samples collected from the same soil boring locations.
• The lateral extent of the dissolved phase plume from the Sierra Lumber site has not reached
northern boundary of the EF Mitchler site.
• No measurable concentrations of organic vapor were noted during the soil vapor screening.
The generation of methane in the soils at the site is not likely rased on the screening of the
surface soils and therefore should not pose an environmental concern to the site.
6.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of this investigation, AGE recommends the following:
• No further subsurface investigations should be required at the site to determine if the Sierra
Lumber release has affected the site.
• As noted in a previous report for the site, the contents of the inactive AST located on the
northern portion of the property should be disposed in an appropriate manner.
• If any additional environmental concerns, not discussed in this report are discovered or occur
after this investigation, please notify our office for further recommendations.
Advanced CcoEnvironmental Inc.
J
