17 July 1997 <br /> AGE-NC Project No. 97-0324 <br /> Page 4 of 6 <br /> sampler and a two-foot polyethylene soil sampling sleeve. Upon sample retrieval, a section of the <br /> sleeve will be preserved. The ends of the sleeve will be immediately covered with Teflon tape or <br /> aluminum sheets, capped and sealed with tape. Each soil sample will be labeled with the following: <br /> boring location,depth, time,date and sampler's initials. Grab ground water samples will be collected <br /> from each probe borings, using a Geoprobe water sampling assembly. Each water sample will be <br /> labeled with the following: boring location, time, date and sampler's initials. After collection, <br /> samples will be stored in a chilled container, under ice and transported to a State-certified laboratory. <br /> 4.2. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> All sampling tools used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean water- after <br /> washing with a solution of Alconox. All Geoprobe rods are cleaned prior to advancement in each <br /> probing location. <br /> 4.3. LABORATORY ANALYSIS <br /> Selected soil and ground water samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified <br /> as gasoline (TPH-g), volatile aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and total <br /> xylene: BTE&X) and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA methods <br /> 8015/5030, 8201602 and 8020/602, respectively. <br /> Selected soil and ground water samples collected may be analyzed for the following metals; <br /> cadmium, chromium, nickel, lead and zinc in accordance with EPA method 6010. If soil samples <br /> are in excess 150 ppm of lead or five time the total threshold detection limit of any of the metals, the <br /> sample will also be analyzed by a STLC (soluble threshold limit concentration) extraction in <br /> accordance with California Title 22 and EPA methods 6010. <br /> Laboratory reports of both soil and ground water analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality <br /> assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports. and sample chain of custody documentation will be <br /> presented in a report with the findings and recommendations. <br /> 5.0.
