RYAN INC .
SOIL BORING REPORT
at
Chevron Station #9-3232
8660 Lower Sacramento Road
Stockton, California
Report No. 346463 .04-2
INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of a subsurface investigation performed by Gettler-Ryan Inc. (GR)
at the above referenced site. The work was performed at the request of Chevron Products
Company (Chevron) to further evaluate soil and groundwater conditions beneath the site
following removal of underground storage tanks (USTs). The scope of work performed included:
updating the site safety plan; obtaining the required soil boring permit; advancing five soil
borings; collecting soil samples from the borings for possible chemical analysis; and preparing a
report documenting the work. This work was originally proposed in GR Report #346463 .04- 1 ,
Work Plan For Additional Subsurface Assessment, dated March 26, 1999, and Addenda dated
April 27 and May 20, 1999, The Work Plan was approved by San Joaquin County Public Health
Services (SJCPHS) in a facsimile dated April 8, 1999 (copy attached in Appendix A).
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is a Chevron service station located at the southeast corner of Lower Sacramento Road
and Ponce de Leon Avenue in Stockton, California. Station facilities are currently being rebuilt.
Former facilities at the site consist of a station building with three service bays, a waste oil UST,
two dispenser islands, and three 10,000-gallon gasoline USTs that share a common pit near the
southern site boundary. Location of pertinent site features are shown on Figure 2.
PREVIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES
According to the data provided by Chevron, the service station was constructed in 1967 .
Subsurface facilities consisted of one 5 ,000-gallon and two 10,000-gallon steel gasoline USTs,
and one 500-gallon steel waste oil UST. In August 1983 , the original USTs were replaced with
three 10,000-gallon single-walled fiberglass gasoline USTs and one 1 ,000-gallon single-walled
fiberglass waste oil UST. Data regarding subsurface conditions at the time of UST replacement
are not available.
In December 1993 , dispensers and product lines were removed . The dispensers were replaced
and the product lines were upgraded from single-walled fiberglass to double-walled fiberglass.
jl The USTs were not removed or upgraded. Soil samples were collected from beneath the product
lines and the waste oil UST remote fill pipe. Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg)
were detected in one soil sample from beneath the product lines at a concentration of 7 parts per
I
I
6747 Sierra Court , Suite J • Dublin , California 94568 • ( 925 ) 551 - 7555
