copy SECOR
ilalerualional lncotporated
October 23 , 2001
Project 077 .43505 . 103
Mr. Harlin Knoll
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division
304 East Webber Avenue, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Re: Site Assessment Report and Work Plan for Further Assessment
Chevron Service Station 9-3232
8660 Lower Sacramento Road
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Knoll :
SECOR International Incorporated (SECOR), on behalf of Chevron Products Company
(Chevron), presents this report of the results of assessment activities performed at the above-
referenced site (Figure 1). The purpose of the site assessment was to further delineate the
lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in groundwater beneath the site. Nine cone
penetration testing (CPT) borings were advanced to assess soil stratigraphy. Adjacent to
each CPT boring, a second direct-push borehole was advanced to collect groundwater
samples. A water well search, performed to identify any potential sensitive receptors near
the site, is also summarized in this report. Based on the findings of these site assessment
activities, SECOR proposes a work plan herein for further assessment at the site.
SITE BACKGROUND
The site is an operating Chevron Service Station located at the southeast comer of Lower
Sacramento Road and Ponce de Leon Avenue in Stockton, California. Current station
facilities include a station building, car wash, four product islands under a common canopy,
and three gasoline underground storage tanks in a common excavation. The station features
are illustrated in Figure 2. Additional site investigation information pertinent to this
assessment is summarized in Attachment A.
ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES AND FINDINGS
On August 3 , 6, and 7, 2001 , a SECOR representative supervised Gregg Drilling & Testing,
Inc. (Gregg) of Martinez, California, as they advanced direct push borings at nine locations
(CPT- 1 through CPT-9) around the site to assess soil stratigraphy and to collect discrete
groundwater samples. The CPT locations are shown in Figure 2. Each CPT boring was
3017 Kilgore Road, Suite 100. Rancbo Cordoila, CA 95670 916. 861 . 0400 916. 861 . 0430 Fax imu?. secor. can
