TIP - 1 <br /> Appendix 1 <br /> Assessment Requirements for <br /> Tiered Permitting System Tanks <br /> You have determined that the tank/system you are concerned with is subject to <br /> regulation as a Tiered Permitting System Tank. <br /> Assessment Stan ards: <br /> First Assessm nt: The first assessment of the tank/system integrity needs to <br /> occur prior t placing the tank/system into operation or by January 24, 1998 <br /> (whichever i later). <br /> Assessment a ective term: Assessments are valid for one year for tanks installed <br /> or operating prior to 1991. Assessments for tanks installed or operating after <br /> 1991 are val d for five years. <br /> Assessment renewal: Every five years. If containment is not in place, or found <br /> not to meettandards, the assessment must be renewed annually. <br /> Assessment Conte ts: <br /> (1) Certification from an independent professional engineer. <br /> (2) An assessment of a Tiered Permitting System Tank must include the following <br /> information: <br /> Mated I of construction <br /> Mated I thickness and how the thickness was determined <br /> Descri tion of the system piping (materials, diameters) <br /> Descri tion of any internal and external pumps <br /> A sket h or drawing of the tank, including the dimensions <br /> Age ofthe tank <br /> Descri tion and evaluation of leak detection equipment <br /> Description and evaluation of corrosion protection equipment <br /> Descrition and evaluation of spill control or overfill equipment <br /> Chara;eristics of the wastes handled <br /> Description of any structural damage or inadequate installation or <br /> construction <br /> Results of leak test, internal inspection or other integrity testing (noting <br /> type of test performed) <br /> Estimate of service life of the tank <br /> Description and evaluation of secondary containment, including ancillary <br /> equipment <br /> Regulatory Reference: <br /> California Code of Regulations, title 22, section 66265.191 , subd. (e)(1) <br /> California Code of Regulations, title 22, section 66262.192, subd. (h)(1) <br /> This tank/system is eligible for a one-time three-year exemption from assessments if <br /> granted by a CUPA. <br />
