Lodi CA <br /> Complaint #C0002711 <br /> Program Element 25.46 <br /> Malathion Spill <br /> 10/3/94 <br /> 11:45 Received call from Lodi Fire regarding a chemical spill incident at 1210 S. <br /> Cherokee, Sanborn Chevrolet Geo <br /> 12.:30 Arrived on site <br /> 12.:45 Arrived at the incident command post. I was introduced to Steve Ratigan the <br /> incident commander for Lodi Fire Dept. Mr. Ratigan informed me that a 1 gallon <br /> container of malathion an organo phosphate fell out of a locker and broke. 3 <br /> people were hospitalized at Lodi Memorial Hospital. 7 people complained of <br /> respiratory burning. A cleanup crew from Sacramento (Laid Law Environmental <br /> Services Disposal Control) has been dispatched. <br /> I was introduced to Sandy Witchman the group supervisor. He stated that the <br /> crew entering the exclusion zone was in level B protective clothing. The spill is <br /> inside the repair building. <br /> One of he hospitalized employees read the label on the bottle as contaiiung <br /> Malathic n. <br /> I was introduced to Dennis Calton the general manager of Sanborn Chevrolet <br /> Geo. <br /> Doug A' tz has a list of people that were hospitalized. <br /> List of Sanborn Employees which were hospitalized. <br /> opened the locker. Suffered skin contact, put the contaminated saw <br /> dust in a dumpster (on interview he said he started to mop up the spill on his <br /> own init ative) <br /> also*oened locker. Suffered skin contact. He laced the <br /> sawdust ecause he saw slipping in the spill and helped"ut the <br /> contami ated saw dust umpster <br /> put sawdust on the spill and put the waste in the dumpster, touched <br /> the bottle la el with his finger, He was vomiting. <br /> List of e ployees wh suffered res iratory distress and were hospitalized. <br />
