Permits are required for (1) <br /> treatment of hazardous wastes, (2) storage of hazardous wastes <br /> for longer than 90 days, or (3) onsite disposal of hazardous <br /> waste, unless a variance is obtained. You have made the <br /> following sta ements in support of your request: <br /> o Sma 1 quantities of hazardous wastes are stored on-site <br /> lon er than 90 days. <br /> o Wastes are picked up by a Registered Hazardous Waste <br /> Hau er on a regular basis. <br /> Prior to issu nce of a variance as requested, the Department of <br /> Health Servic s will conduct an inspection of your facility <br /> to verify the e statements and to determine compliance with other <br /> provisions of the State Hazardous Waste Control Law and <br /> Regulations. The Department will make a final determination <br /> based upon th information you have submitted and the results of <br /> the facility nspection. Until such time as a permit variance is <br /> granted, you ay only store hazardous wastes generated onsite at <br /> your facility for 90 days. However, the 90 day period does not <br /> start until y u have accumulated 100 kilograms (about 26 gallons <br /> for material ith the density of water) , if you generate less <br /> than 100 kg/m nth. <br /> In the event hat a variance is granted, your company will still <br /> be a producer of hazardous waste and as such has the <br /> responsibility of handling those wastes properly. The State <br /> requirements related to management of hazardous waste are <br /> contained in itle 22 , Chapter 30 of the California <br /> Administrativ Code.
