L & M OPERABLE UNIT-THIRD QUARTER 2013 SITE STATUS, REMEDIAL SUMMARY,
AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling
November 1, 2013
TPHd was detected at a concentration of 0.0081 mg/L in QCEB-1-RM, just slightly above the
method reporting limit of 0.005 mg/L; this low exceedence level is not indicative of cross-
contamination. The remaining tested constituents were reported as non-detect at or above the
laboratory MRL in the other five equipment blanks, indicating that no cross-contamination
occurred during the sampling activities.
Duplicate samples QCDUP-1 and QCDUP-3 were collected from L&M OU shallow zone wells
MW-18 and MW-21, during 3Q13 sampling event. A comparison of the samples is shown on
the following table.
Analyte Sample # Sample# % Difference
MW-18 QCDUP-1
TPHg (mg/L) 3.5 0.58 +/- 143.1%
TPHd (mg/L) 0.97 0.61 +/-45.6%
TPHo (mg/L) 0.059 0.056 +/- 5.2%
Benzene (mg/L <0.0005 <0.0005 0%
MTBE (mg/L) <0.0005 <0.0005 0%
TBA (mg/L) <0.005 <0.005 0%
Analyte Sample # Sample # oda Difference
MW-21 QCDUP-3
TPHg (mg/L) <0.05 <0.05 0%
TPHd (mg/L) 0.34 0.41 +/- 18.7%
TPHo (mg/L) <0.05 0.054 +/- 7.7%
Benzene (mg/L) <0.0005 <0.0005 0%
MTBE (mg/L) <0.0005 <0.0005 0%
TBA (mg/L) <0.005 <0.005 0%
The calculated TPD between sample MW-18 and QCDUP-1 were within the acceptable limit
(20%) with the exception of TPHg and TPHd. The RPD for TPHg was calculated at +/- 143.1%,
approximately 123.1% outside the acceptable limit and the RPD for TPHd was calculated at +/-
45.6%, approximately 25.6% outside the acceptance limit; however, the reported analytical
values for TPHg and TPHd in MW-18 are relatively consistent with historical values. The data
can be considered representative.
2.3.2.5 General Laboratory Notes
The following validation notes are consistent with the shallow zone quality assurance and
quality control. Each set of issues corresponds directly with the denoted report (Appendix E).
Laboratory Validation, report number 85467:
There was no observed validation issues with A-Zone monitoring wells.
5tantec 2.4
