L & M OPERABLE UNIT-THIRD QUARTER 2013 SITE STATUS, REMEDIAL SUMMARY,
AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling
November 1, 2013
Historical thickness of SPH in wells DPE-1 through DPE-13 and MW-40 has from 0.01 ft
(DPE-12, February 2005) to a shallow zone maximum thickness of 11.72 ft (DPE-1, November
2003). Well MW-40 was abandoned in November 2008 due to the City of Stockton's excavation
activities. DPE wells were not monitored in accordance with MRP R-5-2012-0805.
A summary of 3Q13 SPH sheen in comparison to the 2Q13 is provided in the following table.
SPH SPH
Well Thickness Thickness Difference
Identification 2Q13 (Feet) 3Q13 (Feet) (Feet)
2AMW-13 Sheen Sheen NA
2AMW-14 Sheen** Sheen** NA
MW-19 Sheen Sheen NA
Definitions:
NA = Not applicable
SPH = Separate phase hydrocarbon
** = Connected to free product removal system
SPH removal activities are conducted quarterly (at a minimum) for on and off Site wells which
repeatedly contain measurable thickness of SPH and are not connected to the offsite
remediation system. It should be noted that these SPH removal activities are typically
performed between quarterly monitoring events, and are likely to influence reported SPH
thickness. Due to the installation of the new free product removal system (April through May
2013) on the Waterfront Towers Parking lot facility, quarterly SPH removal in the wells located
offsite to the north has ceased, effective 1Q13. This free product removal system was
anticipated to be in place and operational by the end of 2Q13 or beginning of 3Q13; thus a
quarterly free product removal event was not scheduled for the reporting quarter. Due to delays
outside of Stantec's control, the system was not able to be started until 9/10/13.
5tantec 2.12
