L & M OPERABLE UNIT-THIRD QUARTER 2013 SITE STATUS, REMEDIAL SUMMARY,
AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Soil Vapor Sampling
November 1, 2013
4.2.2 APSV Soil Vapor Concentration Trends
During 3Q13, TPHg and methane concentrations in vapor samples collected from APSV-10 and
APSV-10-D increased from concentrations reported during 2Q13. All other requested analytes
tested were reported as non-detect (below the MRLs) in the samples collected from the APSV
wells during 3Q13
4.2.3 UPSV Soil Vapor Concentration Trends
During 3Q13, TPHg and methane concentrations in vapor samples collected from UPSV-5
decreased from concentrations reported during 2Q13. All other requested analytes tested were
reported as non-detect (below the MRLs) in the samples collected from the UPSV wells during
3Q13.
Fuel oxygenates have not been reported above MRLs in the UPSV wells since their installation.
UPSV-1 and UPSV-6 have had no detections of the requested analytes at or above MRLs since
first quarter 2008. For three consecutive quarters, UPSV-2 and UPSV-3 have had no
detections of the requested analytes at or above MRLs. As shown in Table 23, TPHg has
historically decreased in wells UPSV-1 and UPSV-6 since base-line sampling in July 2005 and
since start-up of the on-site remediation system on May 31, 2007. Additionally, benzene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes have decreased to below detection limits which are
complimentary to the decreasing trend of TPHg observed in well UPSV-6 (Figure 39). There
have been no other apparent trends associated with reported concentrations in the UPSV wells.
4.2.4 Quality Assurance/Quality Control-Samples and General Laboratory Notes
Duplicate samples APSV-10-D and UPSV-3-D were collected from two soil vapor points
(APSV-10 and UPSV-3, respectively) during the 3Q13 sampling event. Comparison of TPHg
and Methane are shown on the following table.
5 Stantec 4.2
