L & M OPERABLE UNIT-THIRD QUARTER 2013 SITE STATUS, REMEDIAL SUMMARY,
AND GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT
Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling
November 1, 2013
2.0 Groundwater Monitoring and Sampling
2.1 GROUNDWATER MONITORING AND SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Quarterly groundwater monitoring of 15 shallow wells (A-Zone) (MW-9, 2AMW-12, 2AMW-13,
2AMW-14, MW-18 through MW-23, MW-25, MW-28, MW-31, MW-34, and MW-45), 21 B-Zone
wells (MW-16, MW-17, MW-24, MW-26, MW-27, MW-35, MW-42 through MW-44, MW-46
through MW-52, and MW-56 through MW-60), eight C-Zone wells (MW-54, and MW-61 through
MW-67), and eight D-Zone wells (MW-55, and MW-68 through MW-74), were performed by
Stantec on April 15, 2013. Quarterly groundwater sampling of seven shallow wells (MW-9,
2AMW-12, MW-18, MW-20, MW-21, MW-22, and MW-31), eight B-Zone wells (MW-16, MW-42,
MW-51, and MW-56 through MW-60), eight C-Zone wells (MW-54, and MW-61 through
MW-67), and eight D-Zone wells (MW-55 and MW-68 through MW-74), were performed by
Stantec between July 15 and 18, 2013. Groundwater monitoring and sampling activities were
performed as required by monitoring and reporting program (MRP) No. R5-2012-0805
(Appendix A, Table 1).
The City of Stockton is responsible for monitoring and sampling at the portion of the South
Shore Parcels identified as the MOU and the UOU. Five shallow wells, MW-3, MW-7,
2AMW-15, MW-37, and MW-38 are located in the MOU and UOU and are gauged by
Wallace-Kuhl, on behalf of the City of Stockton, and under a separate MRP. These wells have
not been sampled April 21, 2008. Stantec's groundwater monitoring and sampling activities are
to be concurrently coordinated with Wallace-Kuhl.
2.2 LABORATORY ANALYSIS
Stantec's standard operating procedures for groundwater monitoring and sampling are included
as Appendix C. Collected groundwater samples were submitted under chain-of-custody (COC)
documentation to Kiff Analytical, a state certified laboratory located in Davis, California and were
analyzed for the following:
• TPHd and TPHo by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8015M
• TPHg; benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (collectively BTEX); and fuel
oxygenates (MTBE and TBA) by EPA Method 8260B
• Dissolved arsenic by EPA 6000/7000 Series (Third Quarter, select wells only)
Monitoring well construction details are included on Table 2. Groundwater elevation and
analytical data are presented in Table 3 and Table 4. Historical analytical data is included as
Appendix D. Certified laboratory analytical reports, Stantec Lab Validation forms, COC
documentation, and monitoring and sampling field data sheets are included as Appendix E.
5ta ntec 2.1
