The last monthly remediation status report available on GeoTracker was from August 2009.
' The cumulative amount of gasoline range organics (GRO) removed from the subsurface at
that date was estimated to be 463 pounds. The sparging system was tested in August with 4.5
cubic feet per minute of air sparged into each well at 8 to 10 psig. The influent VOC
' concentrations to the SVE wells increased during this test by over 20%. The air sparge
system was scheduled for continuous start up in September 2009.
The air sparging performed for the test at Dolly Madison was more in line with biosparge
injection pressures and flow rates than air sparging. It is PSC's opinion that sparging at this
pressure and flow rate will be more beneficial for removal of contaminants than the system
' proposed for the Transmission store. The system will have to be expanded to remove
contamination from lower permeable zones.
3.3 Sampling for Biosparge Evaluation
PSC collected soil samples on approximate five-foot intervals during drilling of the June 2009
' monitoring well installations. Soil samples collected from the permeable zones where the
well was to be screened were submitted to a biotechnology laboratory for bacterial and
nutrient analyses. Samples selected from the saturated silty sand and sandy intervals were
submitted to Cyto-Culture Environmental Biotechnology and McCampbell Analytical, Inc.
for analysis of the following parameters:
• Total Aerobic Heterotrophs and Total Aerobic Hydrocarbon Degraders by Standard
' Method(SM) 9215A (HPC)/9215B modified;
• Total Ammonia as Nitrogen by SM 4500-NH3C or EPA 350.1;
' • Nitrate as Nitrogen by CA Title 22 Modified (DISTLC)/EPA 300.0;
' • Sulfate by CA Title 22 Modified (DISTLC)/EPA 300.0;
• Fractional Organic Content by ASTM D2974-87; and
• Ortho-Phosphate by SM 4500-PE or CA Test 417/422.
Once the new groundwater monitoring wells were installed, samples collected from the new
wells, as well as samples collected from VE-1 (shallowest well on site), MW 7S, and MW7D,
were also submitted to McCampbell Analytical for analysis of:
' • Alkalinity(as CaCO3 for total and speciated) by SM2320B;
• Total Aerobic Heterotrophs by Standard Method (SM) 9215A (HPC) / 9215B
' modified;
• Total Ammonia as Nitrogen by SM 4500-NH3C or EPA 350.1;
' • Nitrate as Nitrogen by CA Title 22 Modified (DISTLC)/EPA 300.1;
Monitoring Well Installation
and
BioSparge Evaluation Report
' Prepared For:Sate Lee Bakery Group,Inc. 15 Prepared By:PSC Industrial Outsourcing,LP
Sara Lee—Lincoln Street 2009_12_03-MW Installation&BioSparge Evaluation Report(Final).doc Report Date:December 3,2009
