' Keep the weight as close to the body as possible. <br /> • When changing directions,turn the entire body, including the feet. <br /> • Don't twist the body. <br /> ' 5.9.4 Biological Hazards <br /> Biological hazards may include venomous snakes, insects, animals (rabid) and allergenic <br /> ' plants. Site personnel prior to beginning work should review information attached in the <br /> Appendix. <br /> ' 5.9.5 Electrical Hazards <br /> A tbird-party utility clearance or locate will be performed prior to subsurface activities. <br /> The "Utilities and Structures Checklist" in the Appendix must be completed prior to <br /> commencement of any subsurface activities. The specific work area will also be inspected <br /> to verify no possibility of contact with overhead utilities. A buffer zone of at least 20 feet <br /> from overhead utilities must be maintained during the work activities. <br /> Any electrical power tools must be connected to GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) <br /> ' protected circuits. All tools and power cords must be inspected for damage prior to use. <br /> 5.9.6 Heat/Cold Stress <br /> ' Exposure to high/low temperatures may occur during field activities. Precautions will be <br /> implemented by the SSO as described in the information found in the Appendix. <br /> Monitoring procedures as described in the Appendix shall be implemented as required. <br /> ' 5.9.7 Noise Hazards <br /> Hearing protection is mandatory for field personnel when work activities are performed <br /> ' using heavy equipment,machinery, or other noise generating sources. <br /> 5.9.8 Permits <br /> ' Based on the type of work being performed, the following permits are required for this <br /> project: <br /> ' Confined Space Entry Permit <br /> Hot Work Permit <br /> Lockout/Tagout Permit <br /> ' Procedures to be followed for using the above permits are attached in the Appendix. <br /> 5.9.9 Other Hazards <br /> PSC staff shall stay out of the operating range of any heavy equipment on site. The <br /> ' "operating range" is defined as the swing zone plus 25 feet. Entry into the operating <br /> range is allowed only after the operator's attention has been gained and all buckets or <br /> extensions have been placed upon the ground. <br />
