,%MOO
Excavation Remediation Report Advanced Environmental Concepts,Inc.
1.0 EXECUTIVE SUlII MARY
This report presents the results of a remedial soil excavation and groundwater mitigation project conducted
by Advanced Environmental Concepts,;ne. (AEC) at the Durham Ferry Ranch (also known as the Paulson
Life Estate and Bogetti & Sons property) 700 West Linne Road in San Joaquin County, California. The site
is located in an unincorporate&area of Sar. Joaquin County approximately 6 miles southeast of Tracy,
v California (Figures 1 & 2).
This project is the third and final stage of an overall assessment and remediation project originally initiated
as a preliminary measure during foreclosure on the property by Prudential Agricultural Investments. The
objective of this project was to remove petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and thereby effect "source
removal"in order to attenuate continued groundwater degradation beneath the site. Soil contaminated with
gasoline and diesel and groundwater contaminated with gasoline and volatile organic compounds were
discovered during the first and second stages of this project, comprised of a Phase 1 Preliminary Site
Assessment(PSA)conducted in 1996 foilorved by a series of exploratory soil borings and laboratory analyses
performed in 1997.
Mr. Roderick Robertson, of Prudential Agricultural Investments authorized AEC to perform this remedial
action at the subject property as requested by the Environmental Health Division of San Joaquin County
Public Health Services. The regulatory con act for this project is Mr. Michael Infurna, Senior REHS. Based
on the results of this third and final stage of work, AEC makes the following conclusions:
• Based on the results of laboratory analyses of soil samples collected during the assessment phase,
the vertical extent of gasoline contamination within soil was delineated between 4 and 14 feet BGL.
Groundwater sample analyses indicated the presence of concentrations as high as 28,900 parts per
billion gasoline and 1,030 parts per billion benzene prior to the remedial excavation and backfilling
procedures. Groundwater sample analyses performed after the completion of the remedial action
indicated no detectable concentrations of gasoline range petroleum hydrocarbons and trace to non
detectable volatile organic compounds.
• Petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil was excavated to a total depth of 13 to 20 feet BGL
throughout the former UST emplacement area. Clean borrow fill material mined from an adjacent
parcel was used to backfill the excavation, which was first lined with a minimum of one foot drain
rock.
V
• Groundwater beneath the site was encountered between 12 and 15 feet BGL within the three
assessment borings completed as monitoring wells. No gasoline-range petroleum hydrocarbons,
and trace to non detectable volatile organic compounds were detected within samples collected and
analyzed from these wells during September 1998, and November 1998.
Advanced Environmental Concepts,Inc. recommends no addilional phases of soil or groundwater sampling
+ be perfnrmed. AEC recommends that no additional actions be required and respectfully requests final
closure of this .rase,
V
Project: AEC 96C-1707 1
+.r
•ENVIRONMENTAL CONCEPTS WITH DESIGN IN MIND -
4400 ASHE ROAD.0206 • BAKERSFIELD,CA 93313 8051831-1646 FAX 8051831-1771
