1 <br /> r <br /> • <br />' Plastic bottle with a Teflon septa The samples for lead <br /> analyses were filtered in the field and preserved with nitric <br /> acid The other samples were preserved with hydrochloric acid. <br /> All the samples were stored in a chilled cooler containing <br /> crushed ice to maintain the sample at 4°C for delivery to the <br /> laboratory Strict chain-of-custody protocols were followed in <br /> all phases of sample handling <br /> The borings were backfilled with cement grout upon completion of <br />' sampling activities The sections of sidewalk removed during the <br /> investigation activities were replaced with fresh concrete All <br /> equipment used during this investigation which might have come <br /> into contact with contaminated material was thoroughly <br /> decontaminated before and after each use This was accomplished <br /> by washing with Alconox (a laboratory-grade detergent) and <br /> rinsing with deionized or distilled water <br /> r <br /> 6.0 LABORATORY ANALYSES <br />' The samples were sent to McCampbell Analytical Inc of Pacheco, <br /> California, a state--certified laboratory, and analyzed for <br /> • TPHg using EPA Method 5030/GCFID; <br /> • BTEX using EPA Method 8020, <br /> • TPHd using EPA Method 8015M, <br /> r oxygenated volatile organic compounds (9 oxygenates) <br /> using EPA Method 8260 ; and <br /> • Total lead using EPA Method 239 2 <br /> rThe samples were analyzed on a normal 5-day turnaround basis <br /> 6.1 Laboratory Analytical Results <br /> rThe laboratory analytical results are summarized in Table 1 and <br /> Figure 3 Laboratory certificates are included in Appendix A <br />' The results are as follows <br /> Analysis of the groundwater samples indicated that <br />' Petroleum Hydrocarbons <br /> • TPHg concentrations were less than 50 0 ug/L (not detected) <br /> rBenzene concentrations were less than 0 5 ug/L (not <br /> detected) <br /> • Toluene concentrations were less than 0 5 ug/L (not <br /> detected) <br /> 4 <br /> I <br />
