Ceo(4gfcall'¢Ckiiics Iiu. I
Page 10
E, Sinclair&Thompson Property
Soil Gas SUrvey'Report
January 29,2007
SG-2 was non-detect for benzene and TPH so GTl%and SJCEHD personnel chose the location
of SG-6 to show that the concentrations detected in SG-1 were limited to a small. zone of
residual soil contamination. The contamination in SG-1 is defined by the excavation —.10 feet
to the east, SG-2 —25 feet to the north, and'SG-6 --12 feet to the south.
5.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE PROJECT PLAN(QAPP) IMPLEMENTATION
One probe blank and one duplicate sample were collected and analyzed during soil
il
gas
"investigation. The probe blank was collected at;the beginning of the investigation and was
anon-detect for the leak compound and all chemicals of concern. A duplicate sample was
collected from SG-1 at 8.5-feet }cgs. The duplicate sample was non-detect for the leak
compound and contained approximately the same levels of each'of the chemicals of concern.
'Laboratorydata and quality assurance information are included in Appendix B.
60 HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN (HASP) IMPLEMENTATION
• The area of investigation was in a rural setting
• The public was not allowed within 20 feet of the workspace
• All-vehicles were off the road :
I • Air quality was monitored for contaminants using an Organic Vapor Meter(OVM)
•`.. Dust monitoring was not an issue since the ground was so wet from winter rains
The workers woreappropriate personal protective equipment
+; The workers wore disposable gloves that were changed regularly between events
7.0 FIELD VARIANCES
All the borings were advanced in the approximate locations proposed in the August 2006
Active Soil Gas Investigation Work Plan. The location of SG-6 was chosen to delineate the
soil gas detected in SG-1.
8.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
* Benzene has the highest vapor pressure of the BTEX constituents and thus is the most
likely constituent to be detected in the vapor phase.
Benzene was non-detect in all sample locations except for the location of SG-1.,
•: All other analyzed constituents, collected from the location of SG-1, were non-detect
and/or significantly below ESLs.
