The addendum was submitted following a teleconference on 17 October 2013 attended by
Antea and the EHD in which Antea proposed submitting a modified scope of work to assess the
petroleum hydrocarbon contamination that resulted from a former underground storage tank
system at the site.
In the addendum , Antea proposes:
Advancement of two soil borings (SB-1 and SB-2) using direct push drilling technology at
locations illustrated on Figure 2 of the addendum ;
Advancement of SB- 1 to approximately 20 feet below surface grade (bsg) and SB-2 to
approximately 10 feet bsg while collecting continuous soil samples beginning at five feet
bsg for lithologic logging and screening for concentrations of volatile organic compounds
at approximately one-foot intervals using a photo-ionization detector;
Collection of soil samples for chemical analysis of gasoline range organics (GRO) ;
benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) ; methyl tertiary-butyl ether
(MTBE) , and lead at ten and twenty feet bsg from SB-1 , and five and ten feet bsg from
SB-2;
Collection of groundwater samples from the on-site domestic well from the faucet
located nearest the well that has not undergone water filtration , following the purging of a
minimum of one pressure tank volume of water; the groundwater samples will be
analyzed for GRO, BTEX and MTBE ; and
® Notification of site contacts and the EHD approximately five days prior to commencing
the fieldwork,
The EHD approves the addendum with the conditions that soil and groundwater samples are
analyzed for 1 ,2-dichloroethane (1 ,2-DCA) in addition to the analyses listed above; one
additional soil sample is collected deeper than twenty feet bsg in the tank pit area if any
petroleum hydrocarbon contamination is detected at twenty feet bsg ; and that the EHD is
notified at least two weeks prior to commencing the fieldwork.
