I f
FFJJ 4.0 INVESTIGATION RESULTS
4.1 Geologyand H dro eolo
Y g gY
L
As indicated on the lithologic logs developed from the advancement of borings SB-01
through SB-03, three soil types were encountered beneath the Property. The surface soil
consist of a silt unit which extends from the surface to a depth of approximately 10 feet bgs.
The silt is homogenous, is brown in color, and is dry (except where irrigated from above
[SB-03]) and loose. The silt is underlain by a silty sand unit, which extends from the base of
the silt to depths of approximately 14 to 17 feet bgs. This unit is yellowish brown in color,
contains 30 to 40 percent silt, is generally dry to moist, and is predominantly fine-grained
and loose. Underlying the silty sand unit, a clayey silt unit is encountered. This unit is
homogenous, is generally light olive brown in color, saturated, is soft to medium stiff, and
has slight plasticity. The saturated soil encountered in the silty clay unit, or near the
interface with the silty sand unit above, as observed in SB-01, represent the first encountered
water-bearing zone beneath the Property. In accordance with the Workplan, soil borings
were advanced until the water-bearing zone was encountered. This interval was encountered
within each borehole at depths ranging from 16 to 18 feet bgs. During the investigation,
ground water levels were allowed to stabilize in each of the boreholes (within the augers) and
depth to water measurement were recorded. Static water levels measured in each of the
boreholes were approximately 17 feet bgs, suggesting non-confined aquifer conditions
beneath the Property.
`i 4.2 Analytical Results
The soil andsam lin round water analytical results are summarized in Tables 1 and 2,
g sampling Y
respectively, and are discussed below. Laboratory analytical reports and chain-of-custody
documentation have been included in Appendix C.
809-001.rpt/04-18-97/u/keydaa/repons 8
TerraNext
r
