Garrett Backus [EH]
From: Garrett Backus [EH]
Sent: Friday, August 09, 2013 11:21 AM
To: 'Azevedo, Steve'
Subject: RE: Hazardous Waste inspection report
Steve,
I noticed that the Generator Waste Profile Sheet is not signed and dated at the bottom by the generator(Knife
River). The profile sheet should be completely filled out at the time the waste is hauled from your site.
Thank you,
Garrett Backus
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E Hazelton Ave, Stockton, CA 95205
Phone: (209)468-2986
Fax: (209)468-3433
Email: gbackus@sicehd.com
From: Azevedo, Steve [mailto:Steve.Azevedo(akniferiver.com]
Sent: Friday, August 09, 2013 10:00 AM
To: Garrett Backus [EH]
Subject: RE: Hazardous Waste inspection report
Dear Mr. Backus,
Attached please find a signed Return to Compliance Certification. Steps we have taken to ensure compliance are as
follows:
• As discusses, apparently, a hazardous was determination had already been made based on generator
knowledge and some analytical testing. Please see the attached Generator Waste Profile Sheet that was used
for disposal of the waste generated by the power washing. In addition, the hazardous waste contractor
(Advanced Chemical Transport) performs analytical testing on each batch of this type of waste that they send to
the disposal facility. Each batch may consist of waste generated by and comingled from a number of
generators. In the future,we are considering using a different waste disposal contractor that will perform the
analytical testing solely on our waste and not a comingled waste.
• We have contacted the used oil hauler and instructed them to use the current active EPA ID number going
forward. In addition, we met with their driver to explain this and to affix the current EPA ID number onto the
hazardous waste accumulation label.
• As noted on your inspection report, the accumulation start date on the oily solids drum was corrected during
the inspection.
1
