Steps we have taken to ensure compliance are as
follows:
• As discusses, apparently, a hazardous was determination had already been made based on generator
knowledge and some analytical testing. Please see the attached Generator Waste Profile Sheet that was used
for disposal of the waste generated by the power washing. In addition, the hazardous waste contractor
(Advanced Chemical Transport) performs analytical testing on each batch of this type of waste that they send to
the disposal facility. Each batch may consist of waste generated by and comingled from a number of
generators. In the future, we are considering using a different waste disposal contractor that will perform the
analytical testing solely on our waste and not a comingled waste.
• We have contacted the used oil hauler and instructed them to use the current active EPA ID number going
forward. In addition,we met with their driver to explain this and to affix the current EPA ID number onto the
hazardous waste accumulation label.
• As noted on your inspection report, the accumulation start date on the oily solids drum was corrected during
the inspection.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me at this email address or by telephone at 209-948-
0302.
Sincerely,
Steve Azevedo
California Environmental Manager
Knife River Corporation
(209) 948-0302
kniferiver.com
1
