y ci E
J. }j. Kt_EINFELDER & ASSQCI 7'E5 '
File No. S-1773-9/8
March 7, 1985
Page Two
1
Gasoline Content Tests were performed by Canonie Engineers of Stockton on
the soil samples obtained from approximately 15 feet in the boring adjacent to
theit and at `
p approximately 17 and 19 feet in the boning in the pit.' The test '
results indicate gas contents of less than 1.0 part per million for each sample
which is the minimum detection level for the test. j Clean-up standard for hydro- }
carbons is determined for each individual site by DOHS. Their criteria depends
primarily on the soil and groundwater conditions and the potential for, con-
taminating a usable groundwater supply. The test results indicate that no
significant concentration of gas has occured at the; location explored adjacent
to the pit and below approximately 17 feet in the pit. : However, due'! to the: fact f
that gasoline was observed during removal of the tank .and a strong gas odor' was
detected in a sample obtained at 13 feet in the pit, it appears that a gasoline
! concentration is present locally in the soils present 4 at the bottom of the pit. E
i However, it appears that the lack of groundwater and cemented silt and clay
layer encountered at approximately 18 feet has reduced the horizontal and ver-
tical extent that' the contamination has spread. kk
EE A
If you have any questions or need additional information, please.contact
US.
Respectfully ,submitted,
J.
