This investigation will examine groundwater flow direction and asSGCs the
extent and nature of groundwater contamination and will consist of the installation of six
boreholes and four monitor wells to further delineate the extent of contact=inatian identified in
i earlier studies. llie investigation is to be conducted at 224 North Main, Lodi, California. The
l=
location of removed underground storage tank-s,borings PI and P2,and groundwater monitoring
well M-1 are shown on the site map on Figure 1.
1.2 Site history and Description
l ..
A description of the site, the surrounding community, and current activities at the site are
J
available in the"Environmental Site Assessment"report dated September 15, 1984, prep=)red by
Bkymyer Engineers,Inc.and discussion of earlier investigation following underground storage tank
t =
(UST) removal in 1985 was completed by J.E.Kleinfelder and Associates and summarized in a
letter to Laurie Cotulla dated August 13, 1985.
I 2-0 SOIL CONTAMINATION ASSESSMENT
In order to determine the lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination at the subject site,SRK
f '
+ ,
will first install piezometers P1 and P2 as indicated an Figure i. Drilling will be completed by
Turner Exploration, Inc., California C57 license 602720 and all investigation %41 be under the
guidance of and certified by an SRK California certified geologist. Fallowing identification of
groundwater gradient SRK will then install a third boring which will be completed as a ground-
water monitoring well. An SRK geologist will be on-site to oversee drilling. Soil sacnples will be
collected at 5-Coat intervals using a California split-spoan'samplcr lined with brass tubes. Ali
cuttings and samples will be collected for logging and testing for organic vapors with a
photoionization detector (PID).
The brass tube ends will be covered with aluminum foil, capped with plastic cad caps, wrapped
with duct tape, labeled, and stored at 4°C. Chain-of-custody forms and laboratory analytical
results will be included in the follow-up repor .
+--, The PID will be used on-sift to detect organic vapors in the sal!samples. Soil samples willa so...
laboratory and will be analyzed for
be submitted for laboratory analysis by a California certified
!
