:
-A
4 Decontamination
I tr;i
Friar to commencing sampling or purging, all bailers, pumps, tubing, cables, And Ifncs willbe
decontaminated. Decontamination will include trisodium phosphate wash, tap water rinse, and
deiomzed water final rinse. A bailer blank will be taken after initial decontamination is
performed. The bailer blank is obtained by filling the bailer with deionized water and t ransferring
¢ the water into appropriate containers. The sample is to be labelled"Bailer Blank" and"Flold" is
to he indicated in the analysis sections of the label and the Chain-of-Custody record. All
t.., equipment will be thoroughly decontaminated after sampling each well.
i
Gauging
The water I-vel in cacti well will be gauged prior to purging. 4n oillwatcr interface probe will
be used to determine the depth to water, depth to product, and total well depth. 'flte data
., collected will be recorded on the Groundwater Monitoring Data form. The interface probe and
tape will be decontaminated prior to gauging each well.
Purging
The well will be bailed or pumped to remove at least three well casing volumes prior to sampling
or until the pH, temperature, and conductivity have stabilized. "Stabilized is defined asnd condu three
consecutive readings within 15 percent of one another. Temperature,pH,,
y .
be measured with field instruments after each well casing volume is removed. The data will be
recorded on Purge Data form. A casing volume will be based an actual measurements made on
the day of sampling. If the well is purged dry before three well casing volumes are removed, the
sample will be taken when thv water level in the well recovers to S0 percent of its initial water
level. If the length of time for the well to recover 80 percent of its initial water level exceeds two
hours, the sample will be obtained as soon as sufficient volume is available. All water purged
from the well will be placed in labelled,55-gallon,closed-top drums.
Sampling
uired volume from well, the sample will be obtained with a
Following the removal of the req
clean, tclIon or stainless steel bailer. All samples will be logged on the Chain-of-Custody record
form. Samples will be placed in appropriate containers provided by the laboratory. Labels
name, projec 'Me
number, date, sample identification, sampler, and analytical
specifying project affixed, r each sample container. e samples will be placed in a cooler with
parameters will be nam
dry or blue ice for delivery to the analytical laboratory.
3.5 Sampling Schedule
. Periodic sampling of the monitoring wells may become necessary. Sampling will be addressed in
_.. after the mitia: investigations.
the-remedial action pl.ut which will be-prepared.
Steffen Robeaw and KiMe-
t
