Neat cement will be used to backfill around the well from the top of the `
sanitary seal to ground surface. A traffic rated vault box will be placed over the well and
mounted flush with the surrounding surface. The actual well construction may be
modified in the field based on conditions encountered at the time of the investigation.
Task 3: Laboratory Analysis
Soil and samples will be forwarded to a California state-certified laboratory for chemical
analysis under strict chain-of-custody procedures. The soil samples will be analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHG) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene,
and total xylenes (BTEX) using USEPA Method 8015/8020 DHS/LUFT; for oxygenates
(including methyl tertiary butyl ether [MTBE], ethyl tertiary butyl ether [ETBE],
&&isopropyl ether [DIPE], tertiary amyl methyl ether [TAME], and tertiary butyl alcohol
[TBA]) and 1,2-dichloro ethane (1,2-DCA), using USEPA Method 8260.
Task 4: Waste Management
All generated drill cuttings, excess soil samples, and wastewater generated during the
field activities will be contained in Department of Transportation-approved, 55-gallon,
` steel drums. These drums will be appropriately labeled and stored on site pending
disposal. A composite sample will be collected from the soil cuttings and will be
analyzed to determine an appropriate disposal method. A licensed contractor will
} transport the drums to an appropriate disposal facility.
f
SCHEDULE
Following approval of the work plan, Stratus will submit a well permit application to
PHS/EHD. Upon receiving a well installation permit, the proposed work will be
scheduled. It will likely require two weeks for a drilling rig to become available.
Laboratory results will take an additional 2 weeks to receive. A report documenting the
well installation will be submitted approximately 3-4 weeks after installation.
F '
r
CAProject FilesWSA Gasoline100651Workplans165-workplan.doc 5TRAT'U5
