Mr.Harlin Knoll July 31,2002
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Project No. 2007-0065-01
Page 4
Analytical for analysis. Certified analytical reports and chain-of-custody documentation
for air samples are included in Appendix C.
On May 7, 2002, additional air samples were collected from wells MW-8, S-1, S-2, and
VW-1 to evaluate the petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in soil vapors extracted
from these wells. TPHG and MTBE were detected in air samples collected from wells
MW-8, S-2 and VW-1. The highest TPHG and MTBE concentrations were observed in
the sample collected from well MW-8. Xylenes were detected in the samples collected
from S-2 and VW-1 at 3.78 mg/M3 and 1.75 mg/m3, respectively. Petroleum
hydrocarbons were not detected in the sample collected from well S-1.
The SUES extracted approximately 133 pounds of TPHG during the second quarter 2002,
and has extracted a cumulative mass of approximately 3,457.10 pounds of TPHG since
startup. The SVES is in compliance with the SJVUAPCD. Stratus will continue to
operate and maintain the SVES on a pulse mode, with two weeks of operation and two
weeks of shutdown, to optimize the extraction rate during the third quarter 2002.
CONCLUSIONS
Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenates in groundwater are
generally consistent with previous sampling events. Groundwater flow direction is
towards the south-southeast at an average gradient of 0.001 ft/ft. Petroleum
hydrocarbons were below laboratory detection limits in the sample collected from offsite
downgradient well MW-7 during the second quarter 2002. The SVES extracted
approximately 133 pounds of TPHG during second quarter 2002.
STATEMENT OF LIMITATIONS
The services described in this report were performed consistent with generally accepted
professional consulting principals and practices. No other warranty, expressed or
implied, is made. These services were performed consistent with our agreement with our
client. This report is solely for the use of our client unless otherwise noted. Any reliance
on this report by a third party is at such party's sole risk.
PAUSA Gasoline100651Qtrly120021USA_65_2Q02.doc 5TRA rus
