• Mr. Harlin Knoll May 16,2002
1st Quarter 2002 QMR Project No. 2007-0065-01
Page 4
The SVES extracted approximately 65 pounds of TPHG during the first quarter 2002, and
a cumulative mass of 3,325.05 pounds of TPHG since startup. The SVES is in
compliance with the SJVUAPCD. The system operated intermittently due to power
outages and electrical problems. The system was restarted on January 21, 2002, after a
power outage on January 20, 2002. The SVE system was shutdown between January 28,
2002, and February 4, 2002, due to an electrical relay malfunction. The system was re-
started on February 26, 2002, after installing relays for the catalytic oxidizer.
Stratus will continue to operate and maintain the SVES on a pulse mode, with two weeks
of operation and two weeks of shutdown, to optimize the extraction rate during the
second quarter 2002.
CONCLUSIONS
Concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenates in groundwater are
generally consistent with previous sampling events. TPHG was detected in offsite
downgradient well MW-7 for the first time. An increased concentration of MTBE was
also detected in MW-7. Groundwater flow direction outside of the radius of the SVES
• was toward the south-southeast at an average gradient of 0.005 ft/ft. Groundwater levels
increased over a foot since the previous monitoring event. The SVES extracted
approximately 65 pounds of TPHG during the first quarter 2002. Stratus will monitor
petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in well MW-7 during the next quarter monitoring
event to verify concentrations detected during the first quarter event.
STATEMENT OF LIMITATIONS
The services described in this report were performed consistent with generally accepted
professional consulting principals and practices. No other warranty, expressed or
implied, is made. These services were performed consistent with our agreement with our
client.
